Track preparation

Motive Archive was proud to represent this 1998 Dodge Viper GTS track car, which sold for $41,250 on Bring a Trailer on July 22, 2026. Finished in an Avery Gloss Cloudy Blue vinyl wrap with white stripes over a black cloth competition interior, the car was presented as a modified, non-road-legal Viper with total chassis mileage unknown due to the absence of an odometer.

Exterior and chassis

Exterior and chassis equipment included a vented hood, adjustable rear wing, front canards, side skirts, rear diffuser, hood pins, front and rear tow hooks, headlight filler panels, and a polycarbonate rear window. Hardware for a splitter was installed, though no splitter was included with the car.

The car rode on black-finished 18-inch OZ Racing Challenge HLT wheels with Hoosier slick tires measuring 315/30 up front and 335/30 at the rear. Penske coilovers with remote reservoirs were installed, and March 2024 work included changing the brake fluid and replacing the control arm bushings. The tires were replaced in May 2024.

Competition cockpit

Inside, the Viper was equipped with Kirkey fixed-back bucket seats trimmed in black cloth, Teamtech five-point harnesses, a Teamtech window net, a six-point roll cage with SFI-certified padding, and a fire-suppression system. A fabricated center stack housed a QuickCar switch panel for the cooling fans as well as the fuel, transmission, and differential pumps, while a Sparco steering wheel framed a mix of factory and aftermarket gauges.

Powertrain and service

Power came from an 8.0-liter OHV V10 factory rated at 450 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque, paired with a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with reinforced mounting brackets. The engine was fitted with a carbon-fiber airbox, dual K&N filters, a Canton Racing Products coolant overflow reservoir, a cowl-mounted kill switch, and tubular headers wrapped with heat insulation. March 2024 service included changing the coolant and replacing the spark plugs, drive belt, fuel cell, transmission fluid, and differential fluid, followed by frame repairs in April 2024.

Included materials and disclosures were central to the presentation. A spare set of 17-inch three-piece wheels with Hoosier tires accompanied the car, and the Carfax report noted prior salvage and rebuilt title issuances as well as one open recall. The vehicle is not legal for road use, carries no title or registration, and sold on a bill of sale.
