Brazilian refurbishment

This Beetle began life as a sedan and was converted into a convertible. Trocar Autos Antigos of Campinas, Brazil, refurbished it in 2023. The car was purchased later that year and imported to the United States after being exhibited at the Encontro Brasileiro de Autos Antigos in Águas de Lindoia.

Exterior and cabin

Previously red, the body was stripped and refinished in green with replacement chrome trim. A black soft top, white boot, towel-rack bumpers, and two-tone 15-inch steel wheels complete the exterior. The cabin was retrimmed in white-and-gray striped upholstery and fitted with aftermarket air conditioning, a Bluetooth-compatible RetroSound stereo, a Henkel banjo-style steering wheel, and a Runner Parts shifter.

Engine and mileage

A 1.6-liter flat-four was installed during the refurbishment. Quintal do Tonella rebuilt the engine and carburetor, and a stainless-steel exhaust was fitted. A four-speed manual transaxle drives the rear wheels. The ODG digital odometer showed 79k kilometers at auction; true chassis mileage is unknown.
