This 1964 Jaguar D-Type Long-Nose Recreation was built by Wingfield. The vehicle is finished in Ecurie Ecosse Blue with a blue leather interior. It bears the serial number 861409 and engine number 7D53305-8.

The original Jaguar D-Type won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1955, 1956, and 1957. It was designed by aerodynamicist Malcom Sayer, with a chassis built from riveted sheet aluminum and utilizing dry-sump lubrication to lower the engine placement.

This specific recreation is the first example built by Wingfield and one of three constructed with an alloy body by Williams and Pritchard coachbuilders. It was originally purchased by Robs Lamplough from the 1975 London Racing Car stand for 7,900 GBP. Subsequent owners include Richard Pilkington and Dutch vintage racer Cees den Haan.

Built on a 1964 E-Type chassis, this recreation features a Ron Beatty-built 4.2 liter wet-sump engine producing 285 horsepower. It has new triple Weber 45 DCOE carburetors, a fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox, and a Salisbury 4HA rear end. The vehicle is equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes and 16" Dunlop wheels. Notable features include a tonneau cover over the passenger bay and a removable passenger side windscreen.

The vehicle comes with a 2008 FIVA identity card and a letter of authenticity from Alan Collins. It has been featured in Graham Robson's "Jaguar D-Type and XKSS" book and on the cover of the June/July 2012 issue of Jaguar Gazette, a Dutch publication. It was also the cover car for the 1974 Wingfield brochure, where it was referred to as "Deetype".

The body has not been repainted since it was built and shows patina. The paint exhibits flaws including scratches, chips, and surface cracks. The Perspex and glass are generally in excellent condition, with a small crack noted in one headlamp cover. The vehicle is fitted with vintage type Pirelli Cinturato tires on 16" alloy Dunlop wheels.

Inside, the leather shows thinning dye and creases. The dashboard features simple black wrinkle paint in good condition. Instrumentation is full Smiths, including an original 180mph D-Type speedometer. The steering wheel is a 3-spoke wood-rimmed design in very good condition.

The engine compartment is described as clean and attractive, with structural members and firewall showing signs of aging and use. Maintenance totaling over $13,000 in 2018 includes fluid changes, new front brake lines, chassis lubrication, a new motor mount, ignition system upgrades, alignment, new tires, battery replacement, radiator replacement, and carburetor replacement, among other items.

This Jaguar D-Type recreation represents a thoughtful tribute to one of motorsport's most iconic designs. With its handcrafted alloy body, recent mechanical updates, and genuine racing pedigree, it offers enthusiasts a tangible connection to Le Mans history.
